Assessment

We offer a variety of assessment options to help our clients evaluate individuals for selection purposes, or to provide information for executive/employee development.  The most popular choice has been the battery of tests offered by the ASSESS system.  Additional computerized assessment systems are available through BusinesSolutions for the selection of employees for most businesses.  These are cost-effective test batteries that provide important information to help you make better selection decisions.  Turnaround time for reports can be eliminated or greatly reduced through the use of these systems.  Call or E-mail us for more information.

The ASSESS System

ASSESS for the Internet* is a state-of-the-art, computerized expert system that produces psychological evaluations for use in the business environment.  ASSESS is designed as a tool to aid in the selection or development of individuals.  It is a business-to-business application that only requires an Internet connection and browser software for our clients to use.

Selection:  ASSESS allows employers to obtain a preview of a candidate’s traits and characteristics in areas such as intellectual abilities, work habits, style of dealing with people, and emotional consistency.  It highlights areas where the individual is notably strong or stands out from other candidates. It provides specific suggestions regarding questions to ask in the interview to probe potential problem areas and specific questions to ask of references to confirm or disconfirm potential liabilities indicated in the ASSESS results.

Placement: Based on the information provided by ASSESS, employers can do a better job of placing an individual in a position that best fits him or her.  It allows managers and human resource professionals to identify individuals who have potential for higher level responsibilities and individuals who may need special attention from management to be most productive.  Suggestions for managing the person are provided in a special section of the Selection Report.

Promotion: Although observed job performance should be the primary consideration when making a promotion decision, ASSESS can provide objective information regarding the individual’s strengths and areas of weakness which may not have been observed in their job performance.  For example, an individual may have excellent reasoning skills, but may not have been in a job where those skills could be demonstrated; or, an individual may not handle pressure well, but has not been in a job that had much pressure associated with it, therefore this weakness has not been observed.

Development: People want and need specific, objective feedback regarding their assets and liabilities; however, giving this type of feedback may be beyond the ability or resources of many managers.  In addition to a detailed description of important personality traits, ASSESS Developmental Reports also provide interactive worksheets and developmental suggestions including on-the-job behaviors to practice and recommended readings for personal development.  While not a substitute for specific performance feedback, the ASSESS Developmental Report is a useful management tool which can be used independently of, or as part of, a performance appraisal process.

Career Management: ASSESS can aid individuals who are in search of a career or job change.  Based on the information provided by ASSESS, an individual can focus his or her search on jobs or careers that will be a better “fit” with the individual’s personality.  Also, there may be certain personality characteristics which may hinder or help the individual during the job search.  ASSESS can help the individual identify strengths and weaknesses in order to tailor the job search accordingly, as well as provide suggestions on how to minimize those weaknesses to be better prepared for new career or job paths.

ASSESS can be used to assist in the selection of outside candidates and for the promotion, placement or development of internal candidates.  A variety of reports can be generated from the data that a candidate provides by completing the test battery.  These include:

The Screening Report:  a quick overview of the candidate's strengths and weaknesses and is appropriate for use early in the selection process.

The Selection Report:  a full evaluation of the candidate's assets and liabilities to determine job fit, performance potential, and management needs (includes interview and reference probe suggestions).

The Developmental Report:  a report designed to be given directly to the candidate and provides constructive feedback on test results, specific developmental suggestions, and a guide for constructing a personalized developmental plan (may be given as feedback to candidates after they have been employed or used in developmental programs involving one-on-one coaching or group workshops).

The Career Manager Report:  a report designed for career counseling situations where the candidate is considering a job or career change (may be used in one-on-one counseling or group workshops).

The Graphic Profile presented in each of the reports provides a quick summary of the candidate's feedback results. Scores are plotted as percentile scores in comparison to a general professional norm group. The candidate's scores may be compared to other norm groups or, if a validation study has been conducted, to a client-specific success profile.

The candidate completes the personality portion of the assessment here on our website.  If performance/intellectual ability information is desired, the remainder of the assessment is completed in person with a psychologist or with a trained proctor in your office.  Feedback can be provided in person or over the telephone, and can be combined with various programs for executive coaching/development.  This can be further enhanced with the use of 360° assessment tools and feedback.
